Aim to breed heavy cutting medium wools with good length and definition. Animals must have good carcase, growth and vigour. Must be able to handle environment and mob competition as the stud is run as commercially as practical. Classer (A Paterson) is vital to the stud reaching its goal of wool in bales.

Grays Hills Partnership runs 5500 commercial ewes under dryland conditions. 1200 are mated to terminal sires (Suffolk and Border Leicester). 3000 replacement hoggets and 4500 MA wethers are run on areas less suitable for lambing. Lucerne hay and grain are fed to compensate for long cold winters (often below –10°C)
